This September, that global effort has a new face leading it.
Alicia Silverstone, the actor, author, and longtime animal welfare advocate best known for her breakout role in Clueless, has been named the Featured Luminary of the fourteenth annual Remember Me Thursday campaign, joining a growing list of public figures who have used their visibility to keep shelter animals in the national conversation. The campaign itself, observed this year on September 24, was built around a simple but stubborn problem. Every year, a staggering number of pets die in shelters without ever finding a family, often because the public simply is not thinking about them at that particular moment.
