Love is in the air! Former Below Deck star Ben Robinson just announced he and his girlfriend recently got engaged.
“After a wonderful 4 year relationship with my love Kiara I decided to take the next step and propose… I feel like the luckiest man alive! Thank you to my friends and family for all of your support,” Robinson wrote.
He revealed in a new interview that he popped the question while on vacation in Rome earlier this month.
“I even forgot it on the way to the airport and blamed our detour on having to turn the air conditioning down. It was a bumpy ride,” he said. “And well worth it. She had no clue when I dropped my knees in Vatican Square that I would be proposing.”
Cabral gushed over the proposal in a post on her Instagram, writing that she was “speechless and overwhelmed.” The reality star shared that they met seven years ago and remained friends until they officially got together in 2019.
This announcement comes amid heated rumors that Robinson is secretly the father of his former co-star Kate Chastain‘s baby, Sullivan Cay. The identity of her new son’s father has remained a mystery for Below Deck fans since Chastain has publicly spoken about going through this pregnancy alone.
After announcing her son’s birth on Instagram, fans speculated that Robinson was the mystery father. But Chastain quickly shut those rumors down. “For the record, the only thing this handsome guy has in common with any chef is the tendency to get emotional around meal times,” she said.
She couldn’t help herself from cracking a joke about it, though. She posted the news to her Instagram story, writing, “Congratulations! She’s going to be the best stepmom ever.”
Robinson and Chastain previously hooked up but have remained good friends for a long time. Robinson revealed in a 2021 interview that she is also “very good friends” with his fiancée.
Chastain confirmed at the time, saying, “The reason it works is because I love his girlfriend. Not in that way. They came to visit me last summer when I rented a house [in Florida] during the pandemic, and she lives down there and our dogs get along. It’s great.”
Robinson shared that he and Cabral plan to get married next summer at his parents’ house in Cape Cod.
