From West Hollywood to the White House, Vanderpump Rules stars Ariana Madix, Lala Kent and Lisa Vanderpump stunned at the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner. However, many fans were left confused as to why the reality stars were present at the prestigious event.
Their appearance comes amid a whirlwind tenth season for the hit Bravo show — and the highly publicized affair which found Madix’s boyfriend of nine years, Tom Sandoval, cheating on her with her close friend, Raquel Leviss.
So, why were they at the White House? Vanderpump and Madix were invited to tag along with The Daily Mail, while Kent came as a guest of the Los Angeles Times.
The event — which oftentimes finds its guests roasting other attendees — even poked fun at Scandoval when comedian Roy Wood Jr. compared disgraced reality star Sandoval to Tucker Carlson, whose top-rated show was recently canceled by Fox.
“The untouchable Tucker Carlson is out of a job, but to Tucker’s staff, I want you to know that I know what you’re feeling,” he began, before adding, “Tucker got caught up. Got caught up like that dude from Vanderpump Rules.”
Fortunately, Madix was a good sport and simply laughed at the well-timed joke.
While viewers understood Vanderpump’s appearance seeing as she had her own political past after she lobbied to ban cat and dog meat sales in 2018, many didn’t understand why Madix and Kent were also invited — despite the latter advocating against reunification camps in the family court system.
“VPR fan here and them being there is ridiculous,” one wrote. “But then again we live in a ridiculous world.”
Another added, “Yea..I don’t get Ariana and Lala being there either. Lol and I’m a fan. Lisa on the other hand is iconic and philanthropic so I get it,” while a third person asked, “Why on God’s green earth is Ariana Madix at a WH dinner? Is getting cheated on noble?”
“I did wonder how Lala and Ariana made the cut,” someone else admitted. “I would expect Lisa and Ken to be there. Glad they all have the exposure, the show is fire right now.”
Meanwhile, other fans were cheering on the ladies’ success.
“#ArianaMadix at the WHCA dinner?!? Love how fast her career is moving up. She deserves it,” one wrote.
Another noted, “I understand the question of relevancy of them being there. Let them enjoy this moment and we can move on.”
Vanderpump Rules airs on Wednesday nights at 9/8c on Bravo. You can stream new episodes the next day on Peacock.
