Nebraska football’s Ochaun Mathis and Trey Palmer were the first former Cornhuskers to hear their names called in the 2023 NFL Draft.Mathis was the 189th pick overall, drafted in the sixth round by the Los Angeles Rams. Palmer came shortly after as the 191st overall pick, drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.Mathis started his college career with TCU in 2018 before transferring to Nebraska in 2022 as an edge rusher. He started in 11 out of his 12 appearances and earned third-team All-Big Ten Conference accolades after setting a single-season school record — 71 receptions making 1,043 receiving yards, nine scores as a rusher and returner, ranking him second overall in Nebraska history.
