Canucks’ Oliver Ekman-Larsson doubtful for Saturday vs. Flyers

If Oliver Ekman-Larsson suits up for the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday vs. the Philadelphia Flyers, it will be a bit of a surprise.

After a long practice Thursday at the University of B.C., Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet cast doubt on the veteran blueliner’s status, saying Ekman-Larsson had gone for X-rays.

“I don’t think OEL is going to play Saturday,” the coach added.

Ekman-Larsson left Wednesday’s game, a 5-4 loss to the New York Rangers, with an undisclosed injury. He appeared to hurt his left hip or leg in a collision along the side boards.

His left knee has been bothering him at times this season, though he’s always said there’s nothing wrong with it.

He did have surgery on the meniscus in his left knee in 2019.

Curtis Lazar also left Wednesday’s game but Tocchet didn’t have any update on the veteran forward.
