Alex Bregman has grown as a leader during his tenure as third baseman of the Houston Astros, a seven-year stretch that includes two World Series titles, four American League pennants and numerous individual accolades. Later this month, the Astros star is set to play a different type of leadership role than he is accustomed to.

Bregman will have a prominent presence at NBA All-Star Weekend in Salt Lake City Utah, where he will serve as a coach for the annual Celebrity Game on Feb. 17. The two-time MLB all-star will coach alongside basketball legend Lisa Leslie—a Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer and two-time WNBA champion—and rapper and actor Fat Joe as they lead Team Ryan, which will have Utah Jazz team governor Ryan Smith as an honorary captain.

Other members of Team Ryan include: musicians Kane Brown, Cordae and Ozuna; actors Everett Osborne and Sinqua Walls; TV host Marcos Mion; WWE superstar The Miz; and Jimmy Kimmel Live correspondent Guillermo Rodriguez. The team will also have a trio of professional sports figures playing in 11-time MLB all-star Albert Pujols, Pro Football Hall of Famer Calvin Johnson and WNBA star Diamond DeShields, who is the sister of former Astros prospect Delino DeShields Jr.

Bregman and Team Ryan will square off against Team Wade, which is set to be captained by NBA great and Jazz minority owner Dwayne Wade. The team will be coached by two-time NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, his brothers, Thanasis and Alex, and Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn. They too will have a star-studded roster to work with, as NFL receiver DK Metcalf, WNBA standout Arike Ogunbowale and tennis player Frances Tiafoe are joined by musicians 21 Savage, Nicky Jam and Janelle Monáe, actors Simu Liu and Ranveer Singh, content creator Jesser, comedian Hasan Minhaj and Peloton coach and reigning MVP Alex Toussaint.

The NBA All-Star Celebrity Game will be broadcast on ESPN and the ESPN app, and will be immediately followed by another event that could be of interest to Houston sports fans. Three Rockets—Jalen Green, Jabari Smith Jr. and Alperen Şengün—are slated to take part in the Rising Stars competition later that night.
