There are endless festivals in Southern California celebrating everything from avocados to horses to weddings to the theater. But among the most sought-after tickets are those for music festivals. There are smaller festivals for fans of country music, piano, metal rock, you name it. But they all pale in comparison to the most famous music festival in the country. Coachella Valley Music Festival in Southern California is a massive annual event that continues to grow in popularity.
The annual Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival has become a Southern California institution. It is the most famous music festival in the country and is held each April at the Empire Polo Club in Indio.
Music lovers plan all year to attend the festival, not only to see live performances by their favorite artists but to discover new talent. Tickets to the festival sell out every year.
For over 20 straight years, the Southern California desert has been the site of the epic Coachella Music Festival. It all began in 1999 and has consistently grown ever since.
Some of the biggest names in the music industry – from rock and indie bands to singer-songwriters to techno – have headlined and performed for massive crowds at Coachella. Some return year after year, as do loyal attendees.
Musical groups and solo artists perform on eight different stages throughout the event space.
Over two three-day weekends, crowds literally fill the audience area at every stage to enjoy concert-style performances all day and night.
Over 160 music artists are on the lineup for Coachella 2023. The artists, performances, stage sets, and music change every year, but the energy and excitement level both on stage and in the crowd is consistently high.
Large-scale art installations wow attendees across Empire Polo Field, with a mix of incredible new talent and returning artists. The curators of the event search for designers, artists, and architects from all over the world to feature during the festival.
Many of the thousands who attend Coachella spend the weekend in one of the festival’s campgrounds. At camp, guests enjoy more than just their own tent. There is a huge activities tent with games, competitions, and more. Camp Lounge is a place to nap, read, or rest up for a night of partying.
Plenty of food and drink is available from vendor booths at camp. An art studio lets people give their creativity an outlet, and The Dome hosts morning yoga, fitness activities, and sound baths. There is even a “Salon” space with mirrors, counters, and electrical outlets for getting ready after a night’s rest.
Coachella is more than just music. There are activities stationed throughout the festival for attendees to enjoy. Several locations offer Coachella merchandise for sale. Record Safari is a shop with over 25,000 new and used vinyl records, and of course, there is the iconic Ferris wheel where you can relax and catch views of the whole Coachella Valley.
Sunset does nothing to dim the excitement at Coachella. In fact, it may even increase the energy at Coachella.
Coachella is especially popular among social media influencers, so even if you are not able to attend, you are likely to see plenty of the action on Instagram, Facebook, etc. Have you ever attended this giant music festival in Southern California? We would love to hear about your experience! If you want more information about the event, visit the official Coachella website or Facebook page.
